In partnership with Temasek Foundation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (as part of the Singapore Cooperation Programme), the Wealth Management Institute (WMI) has convened central banks and regulatory agencies across Asia to promote shared learning and collaboration. Through its education programmes for regulators and policymakers, WMI has trained more than 500 delegates from 13 countries and 30 government agencies, offering courses ranging from Master’s programmes to short workshops.
The Climate Finance Programme is specially developed by WMI to equip policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, and eco-system players to understand and shape the role of climate finance in realising net-zero in their jurisdictions and across Asia.
This leading-edge programme provides policymakers with knowledge, capabilities and networks to support sustainable finance initiatives, accelerate low carbon transitions, manage climate impact and ensure a just transition.
The programme also brings select industry players to the table by way of guest speaker, panel and industry engagement sessions, recognising that public-private partnerships affect meaningful climate action. This facilitates mobilising of resources to support the transition to a sustainable low carbon economy, enabling the development and implementation of policies that attract investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate initiatives.
The Climate Finance Programme equips participants with the knowledge and skills to navigate the evolving landscape of climate finance and its critical role in sustainable development.
Over the course of the programme, participants will gain a deep understanding of climate finance theories and applications for corporations and financial institutions, explore transition planning and carbon markets, and develop the ability to analyse and present strategic cases.
Through a hands-on group project focused on real-world regions or organisations, participants will apply their learning to address practical challenges and solutions. The programme also provides insights into policy analysis and financial innovation, preparing professionals to lead in this dynamic and impactful field.
This module provides a robust and effective platform for exchanges on the ESG financial and regulatory ecosystem. Participants will learn about green financial solutions, markets and services as well as understand how to make sense of the new developments in climate risk management. Participants will also delve into sustainable finance products, as well as the various principles for determining, assessing and managing environmental and social risks in projects.
This module brings together officials from central banks and regulatory agencies in Asia and Singapore to facilitate shared learning on economic and investment principles in dynamic and volatile markets. The programme covers the underlying driving forces behind cycles and markets, navigating financial bubbles and crises, and providing an overview of investments across different asset classes. The curriculum also covers market principles based on the decades of research and experience of Ray Dalio, Founder of Bridgewater Associates and one of the world’s foremost investors, entrepreneurs and thinkers.
This module addresses current and emerging financial crimes risks and threats particularly in a post pandemic age, and the impact of digitisation and digitalisation. Participants will learn about opportunities and challenges that new technologies, AI and data science bring to facilitate combatting financial crimes and fraud and solve data sharing and privacy issues.
This module provides participants with an understanding of geopolitical concepts, frameworks, historical developments and contemporary issues, and why these present important considerations for decision making. Integrating global, regional and country perspectives, this course will equip participants with the skills to critically analyze geopolitical issues and challenges faced by Asian financial regulators and market players today. Participants will also gain an understanding of the interdependencies across countries and the various factors that lead to cooperation or conflict.
The module delves into initiating different models of central bank-issued digital currencies and their potential role in shaping future international settlement networks, and explores the implications of non-traditional financial service players. It addresses the importance of evaluating the balance between nurturing innovation and ensuring financial systems’ safety, soundness, and integrity.
